Orphan Train collides with the book, Orange is the New Black in Manifest Danger. This historical fiction, based the true story of my grandmother’s incarceration for the crime of fornication centers on nine-teen year old Annie, who in 1932 must fight a system, her brother-in-law, and her self-perception to bring her baby home and heal the family. The setting is the same prison Wally Lamb wrote about in Couldn’t Keep it to Myself, I’ll Fly Away, and others. Fans of Ann Patchett and Christina Baker Kline will enjoy this story.
I'm a recovering politician, having served as the first woman mayor of Islamorada, in the Florida Keys. After leaving office I wrote speeches and op-eds for candidates andd seated officials up to state level. I suppose as a political writer I've been writing fiction all along. I have a passion for stories about women who buck the odds and challenge a system.

I am about gratitude, acceptance, and giving back to a universe which has been so generous to me.
I am grateful for my supportive husband, daughter and four crazy, chaotic and strong-minded grandchildren. They are the light of my life and they're going to set the world on fire - if not the house.
And I’m grateful to you, for visiting my site and following my journey as I write, MANIFEST DANGER
